New Orleans desperately needs to be built
up, emotionally and physically. Our proposal wishes to do the opposite
of what the hurricane had done to the city. In Ujamma Square an
environmental center (corbeila) and a childcare center (lias) will
be constructed. Our general design concept was to make cuts through
the site, and the architecture in order to make connections, to
oppose what Katrina has done. I feel that aesthetically pleasing
architecture will help induce people to stay and rebuild what they
have lost. |
