| description |
|
Relying on census information, this project studies the needs of the New Orleans East community in relation to the development of housing and retail establishments. Strategies for organizing architectural additions to the community are derived from the analysis of existing corridors and paths. Centralized, open green space, which presents the opportunity for community gathering, is celebrated. Also developed is a long-term strategic economic plan for local businesses. The goal is to provide an alternative to the typical “big-box” paradigm of neighborhood retail development by supporting a more diverse small-business environment. The project proposes a small business incubator to address the changing needs of local businesses that hope to grow their operations and yet maintain autonomy and identity in New Orleans East. |
