A partnership among the University of Virginia schools of architecture and engineering and Habitat for Humanity, this initiative sought to create a design for a prefabricated house that can be adapted to the particular needs and desires of individual families. The resulting housing prototype is not only structurally adaptable but also emphasizes climatic adaptability and the sustainable, ecological goals of “green” living. The project's designers also worked to build the first example in Gautier, Mississippi, shown on the exhibited boards. Particularly notable is the house's openness to the out-of-doors. |
